Aluminum Die Casting

Repeatable production of complex aluminum components, followed by machining and finishing to your drawing.

Aluminum Die Casting
AT A GLANCE

Aluminum die casting is a tooling-based route for repeated production of aluminum parts. Select it by geometry, demand and finished-part acceptance, and evaluate casting, machining and finishing together.

Complex geometry. Repeatable production.

Aluminum die casting forms parts in reusable metal tooling. It is a manufacturing route to evaluate for repeat orders of components with integrated ribs, bosses and other cast features. At CEX, tooling, casting, subsequent machining and surface finishing can be planned as a connected process.

Design the casting and the finished part together

Identify the surfaces that must be machined, the required datums and the finished dimensions. A drawing review can address parting lines, draft, wall transitions, ejection and machining allowance before tooling is made.

Design topicWhat we review
GeometryWall sections, rib layout, bosses, draft and parting line
AlloyMaterial specification and required final properties
MachiningDatums, bores, threads and critical sealing faces
QualityInspection criteria for both the casting and the finished component

When to evaluate another route

If pressure tightness, heat treatment or demanding mechanical properties are central to the application, compare the proposed casting route with squeeze casting. No process choice replaces validation against your specific requirements.

Prepare your project for review

Share a drawing, material specification, estimated quantity and the characteristics that are critical to the application. If the process is not yet selected, choose “Help me choose” in the inquiry form.

What should I include in a request for quotation?

Send a 2D drawing and, if available, a 3D model. Include material, annual quantity, critical tolerances, surface finish, inspection requirements and target timing. If a specification is still open, tell us what the component needs to do.

Can you supply machined and finished castings?

CEX provides tooling, casting, CNC machining and surface finishing. Define your finished-part requirements so the casting, machining allowance and final inspection can be planned together.

From specification to production

A housing with machined interfaces

Mark the bearing seats, gasket lands and mounting datums. Review how those features will be located during machining and checked after finishing.

A part with cosmetic and functional surfaces

Separate visible areas from surfaces controlling fit or sealing. Agree appearance samples, coating thickness and masking before releasing the tool.

A part with a pressure boundary

Identify every region exposed to the medium, including drilled passages. Define the leak test instead of relying only on a general visual inspection.

Questions for this process

Can every dimension be delivered as cast?

The drawing review separates achievable cast features from dimensions requiring machining. Avoid applying an unspecified tight tolerance to the whole part; identify the dimensions that control function.

Is there a standard minimum order quantity?

Quantity depends on the part and tooling economics. Include initial and annual demand so the quotation can separate tooling investment from recurring finished-part cost.
